- Description: Non-tumorigenic immortalized breast epithelial cell stably overexpressing mutant cancer-related genes. KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog).KRAS is known as a gene involved in the development and progression of cancer by regulating proteins involved in survival of cells and angiogenesis at the downstream signaling pathway of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) which is known as the switch of the proliferation of cancer cells. Mutations of the KRAS gene are found in various cancers such as rectal and lung cancer, and it is regarded to cause proliferation of cancer cells constantly, even without being activated by the signaling pathway through EGFR. Mutations of G12, G13 and Q61 are known as somatic cell mutations often found in cancer.
