  • Tool type: Antibodies
  • Tool sub-type: Secondary Antibody
  • Class: Monoclonal
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated
  • Reactivity: Nile Tilapia
  • Host: Mouse
  • Molecular weight of the target: 68 kDa
  • Application: ELISA ; IHC ; WB
  • Strain: Balb/c
  • Description: IGHM (Immunoglobulin heavy constant Mu) is a protein coding gene. The IGHM gene encodes the C region of the mu heavy chain, which defines the Immunoglobulin (Ig)M isotype. Immunoglobulin is membrane-bound or is secreted by B lymphocytes. In the recognition phase of humoral immunity, the membrane-bound immunoglobulin serves as receptors which, upon binding of a specific antigen, trigger the clonal expansion and differentiation of B lymphocytes into immunoglobulin-secreting plasma cells. Secreted immunoglobulin mediates the effector phase of humoral immunity, which results in the elimination of bound antigens. Detection of specific antibodies in the serum of animals is an indicator of previous exposure to pathogens which is very valuable for broodstocks health testing. The anti-IgM antibody provides a useful tool to monitor vaccine performance in fish and will assist in the development of future vaccines.
