- Tool name: Anti-Integrin Beta 3a (GPIIIa, CD61) [AP-3]
- Alternate names: CD-61
- Tool type: Antibodies
- Tool sub-type: Primary antibody
- Class: Monoclonal
- Conjugate: Unconjugated
- Host: Mouse
- Molecular weight of the target: ~ 86-87 kDa
- Application: ELISA ; FACS
- Description: Monoclonal antibody specific for human glycoprotein IIIa. Background and Research Application Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors composed of alpha and beta subunits, which mediate cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix attachments. Aberrant integrin expression has been found in many epithelial tumours. Changes in integrin expression have been shown to be important for the growth and early metastatic capacity of melanoma cells. Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa, also known as integrin aIIbÄÂ3 is an integrin complex found on platelets. The complex acts as a receptor for both fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor and helps in platelet activation. Defects in glycoprotein IIb/IIIa cause Glanzmann's thrombasthenia, which is an abnormality in the platelets, or bleeding disorder. This antibody is specific for amino acids 50-62 of GP11a.
