Target Details
- Target: Human Leukocyte Antigen DR (MHC class II)
- Target background: Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) are highly polymorphic proteins that are involved in the presentation of antigens to the T-cell receptor. There are two classes of HLA antigens, class I (HLA-A, HLA-B and HLA-C) and class II (HLA-D). They are expressed primarily on antigen presenting cells such as B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, thymic epithelial cells and activated T lymphocytes. The human MHC class II molecules bind intracellularly processed peptides and present them to T helper cells. They therefore have a critical role in the initiation of the immune response. CR3/43 may be used for HLA typing. This antibody reacts with the beta-chain of all products of the gene subregions DP, DQ, and DR.
